Rising to Meet the Future

The Leadership Team has contracted with John Neff as a Planning Consultant to lead us through a process as we look to the future of our congregation. John is President of Nielsen Construction Company and pastor of the Grottoes Church of the Brethren.

The initial steps of our journey will begin in May with a Church Health Analysis which will outline the depth of our programs and ministry in evaluating the six purposes of the church—worship, fellowship, evangelism, service,
discipleship, and prayer. Sixty (60) persons within our congregation will be asked to complete a survey affirming the work of our church. Throughout the month of May, additional information will be gathered to help develop this Health Analysis.

In September, each person in our congregation will be asked to complete a survey with specific questions on our ministries and where God is calling us to serve in the future. Then, on October 12th, we will gather as a Community for a special event in the Life of Sunrise: The Vision Planning Summit.

An Interesting Statistic
Worship attendance on our first Sunday meeting at EMHS (February 10, 2002) was exactly 100.  Attendance on our last meeting at EMHS (February 13, 2005) was exactly 100.  During our first three years there have been 15 Sundays when attendance was 100 or above, with a high of 132 on our Charter Sunday in 2002.  Attendance for the first Sunday meeting in our new facility (February 20, 2005) was 157.
